Tuning 2.0

The first effective system for tuning drums

You’ll finally learn how this instrument really works.
You won’t find any click-bait ‘magic formulas’ here — just study, passion, and experience.
You’ll have to apply yourself and put in the work. Are you ready?

95% of drummers have no idea about how they tune their drums. For many drummers, tuning is a random process — with uncertain results and often very time-consuming.
Each drum has its own character so it should be treated accordingly. If you ask any drummer for tuning advice they will not be able to give you real reference points that you can use to start working on your sound, and most of the time those “tips” are based on their personal tastes, preferences and musical genre.

I developed this method over the past 25 years, working on stages and in recording studios with artists from many different genres (see the list here). It can be customized to fit your needs and your way of playing, which is unique — no one else sounds like you.
The method is based on using notes (frequencies) and intervals and applying them to drum tuning. You won’t need to change your usual setup habits, but you’ll immediately achieve the musicality that drummers instinctively look for between the different elements of the kit.
You’ll tune with awareness, knowing what you’re doing and the direction you’re heading in.
Easily. Quickly. Without trial and error.
So:

  • NO standardized informations born from a personal taste
  • NO obsolete method without any reference point
  • Stop wasting days struggling to get a decent sound from that elusive 12″ or 14″ tom

Just like you, I’ve literally driven myself crazy trying to achieve the sound I had on my mind, I found myself helpless during sound-checks not knowing how to manage the instrument according to the sound engineer’s requests. I did a thousand tests, trials, I’ve made lots of mistakes and I put so much time and efforts into my work to find the ultimate method I’m going to teach you in this course.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
find your sound on any drum kit and confidently deal with the countless challenges that can arise both live and in the studio

“Inspiring someone means helping them focus their vision, not yours”

I know you might be worried about never having implemented notes and frequencies in your instrument’s tuning, but I’m here for you! I, as a drummer and a drum-tech will accompany you throughout the whole learning process.

If you’ll apply what I’ll teach you in this course, the sound engineer will become your friend because you’ll show up on the stage or in the studio with an instrument that has a good tone, and you’ll be able to manage the excess resonance in the best possible way (if there is any).

Our instrument’s sound is often thought as linear, but you’ll find out you can tune it different ways based on the situation you’re in, finding the best sound for every occasion. Is the kit mic’d up? Is the band using in-ear monitors? Are you playing on a huge stage or in a small venue?

Over the past five years, I’ve collected feedback from both course users and followers, while also answering daily questions and doubts from the drummers I work with. This process allowed me to explore my method even further, finding countless confirmations and practical results in the real-world situations where I’ve worked.

This new version of the course is called “Accordatura 2.0” and is an updated evolution of the previous version, “Drum Tuning – Choosing and Controlling Your Sound.”
The principles remain the same, but the concepts are explored more deeply, with chapters packed with even more information.

– FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS –

1. What format is the course in? Is it a CD or DVD?
The course is available online via streaming. Once you complete your purchase, you’ll receive an email with your login credentials. Simply click the profile icon at the top right of the website to access your account, then navigate to the menu and click on “Drum Tuning Course” and “Access the Course.”
You can watch it anytime with an internet connection.

2. Can the videos be downloaded?
For copyright reasons, downloading the videos is not allowed.

3. Do I need to have or purchase a drum tuner?
The course is based on tuning using notes, frequencies, and musical intervals. For greater speed and precision, the use of a tuner is strongly recommended.

4. Which tuner model should I use?
In the course, I use a tuner called Tune-Bot by Overtone Labs
(no, non sono endorser…).
There are two models available. For more information, check Video 1 and Video 2 in the course.

5. Can I use an app instead of a tuner?
Yes, you can use apps like “I Drum Tune” on your smartphone.
The clip on the Tune-Bot speeds up the tuning process because it frees both hands to work on the drum. However, for more precise results on certain frequencies, it’s useful to move it around as demonstrated in the course.
